Always fun to hear his answers to our annual birthday 20 questions. Eli's answers to this year were surprisingly similar to last year's.

My Kids Say the Darndest Things

Whenever Mommy says "We'll see" or "Maybe,"

Jude responds:

"Think about it and say YES."

Jude knows not to push

the alarm button (the one

that looks like a bell) in an

elevator. We call it the

"n0-no button." While

driving, I hear Jude say,

"There's the no-no sign,

Mommy." I look over and

see Taco Bell.

Jude was wearing a fish

shirt and in an

argumentative mood;

saying the opposite

of anything I said, so I

tried to distract him and

asked what was on his

shirt....without skipping

a beat, "Not a fish!"

While at a parade and

hearing rhythmic

clapping, Jude asked,

"Are they 'Happy

and they know it?'"

On Easter morning,

M: What do you want for

breakfast? Eggs? Grits?

Cereal?

Jude (with a huge smile

and throwing his arms

up high): Candy!!!

Kindergarten (week 3)

"She's my new friend.

Actually, I think we are

falling in love."

explained how it is a big deal

batters get a hit. E's response:

playground shelter at school:
Mommy: That's hilarious.
E: Yes, and it is very funny.

When asked what was up with
all Mardi Gras-style beads
around his neck, "I just wanted
to be pretty."

On the way to go eat at

"Mommy, which hand is
my boo-boo on again?"
he says after insisting
he needs a band-aid it
hurts so badly.

After the first day of VBS, "I
forgot my friend-making
powers today."

While watching a baseball
game, "I don't like outs.

After eating a lot for dinner,
"It looks like I've got a
Jellybean in my tummy."

Uncle Digger (a.k.a Uncle
Doug) asked Eli to hand him
his jeans,"You mean these big,
fat ones?"

passing, "When you get to

After I told Eli another car was
a jerk, "That car is a jerk
cause their parents didn't give
them a lotta hugs when they
were little."

different things he had seen

Aunt Kristi put his hat on
before heading down to the
beach. "I'm cute!"

After being told "no" because
we had already listened to
"The Rocketship" song 5
times, "Mommy, you hurt
my feelings."

Sitting in morning traffic
and merging onto the
interstate, "Watch out for
jerks, Mommy!"

While pointing to his new
tricycle as we head out the
door, "I coming this!"

Through tears as the nurses
are finishing his shots, "No,
thank you! No, thank you!"

Mommy whispers in Eli's
ear as she often does, "I
love you!" Eli responds,
"I know."

Taking off Mommy's shoe
in church and sniffing,
"OOOO-WEEE Mommy!
Stinky piggies!!"
