Catching up on December Part 6: Merry Christmas!

Finally! Christmas morning!! Happy birthday to Jesus!....and yes, Santa came. Just as in years past, Matt and I were up before the boys, but Eli was not far behind. He popped out of his room and ran to the stairs shouting, "Merry Christmas!!" He was too excited, and it was too cute. He hurried down to see what Santa had left beneath the tree.

He was excited to see that Santa had enjoyed his cookies, and the reindeer ate up all of the food he left out. It was tough, but he was pretty patient waiting for Jude to wake up. He checked out his stocking a little bit while he waited.

It wasn't long before Jude was up and ready to see what all of the commotion was about. He was pretty clueless, but once he saw some goodies, he was super excited. He immediately spotted the bikes....which Eli had not even spotted yet. The kid was all about his balance bike..it was hard to get him to realize that there was anything else there for him.

As you can see, he was a little excited!  But poor Eli's bike had a note with it:

Eli's front wheel fork was bent in the "accident" and the wheel would not go on. We are sure that Santa did everything he could and was even a bit frustrated that he couldn't leave a bike (without training wheels!!!) that was ready to ride. Eli was a trooper and didn't fuss a bit. He was incredibly understanding and has been patiently waiting for Santa to bring a new one.

The rest of our morning was full of smiles, excitement, fun, and playing....lots and lots of playing!

The final present the boys opened was their present from Mommy and Daddy...out from the giant box popped an enormous Mickey Mouse balloon with a note on it:

You can kinda see Eli's shocked expression here as he read the note...."and we leave tomorrow!" Commence jumping and squealing! And then it was quickly back to playing with the new toys. What an awesome memory that reaction will always be.

Once we could get the boys out the door, we headed over to my parents' house to have Christmas breakfast and more Christmas fun. Both Eli and Jude loved their gifts from and their time with the grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Jude even loved Mommy's new boots. He knows he's a cute little stinker!

And to top off an already incredible morning, Eli had the thrill of being allowed to shoot for the first time. He did really well. Mommy, on the other hand, was not so sure what to think, but I ended up smiling from ear to ear for him and his excitement.

The next morning, there was more excitement as we packed our bags and hit the road...

for DISNEY!
