Catching up on December Part 3: Eli is 6!

Whether I want to admit it or not, Eli is now 6. Right before Christmas, he went to bed 5, and woke up 6....to a decorated door that surprised him so much he screamed....and not in a happy way. Poor thing, but once he realized it was his special day, he was full of pep and excitement.

It was the last day of school before Winter Break, so the birthday boy got to go to school in his pajamas. I had a special birthday breakfast of sprinkle pancakes waiting for him downstairs.

He got to pick one present to open before school, and he could not have been more fun to watch as he tore into his gift.

Mommy brought him a special lunch and a birthday treat to share with the class. He is not usually in school for his actual birthday, so it is fun to get to celebrate at school too!

That night, we met up with family at Chili's (per Eli's request...."because they sing to you!") for his birthday dinner. He got to pick whatever he wanted off the menu and was beyond thrilled.

Back home, he opened the remaining gifts from us, with Jude ready to help every step of the way. Our little 2 year old has become quite a fan of presents since his birthday.

He loved his gifts and his day! It was tough to know that I was tucking in a 6 year old that night. He is getting bigger right before our eyes. He even has his first loose tooth!

Trying to keep up with the tradition I started last year, I interviewed our new 6 year old about his likes and dislikes. It is always interesting to see what answers he comes up with. Some seem to depend on his mood and interests that day and others are just plain surprising!

Well, Happy Birthday to one of the silliest, smartest, most creative, and sometimes sassiest boys I know!
Eli, Mommy and Daddy love you more than you will ever know. Thank you for keeping us on our toes; we are learning so much from you. Keep working hard in school, and keep letting the light of Jesus shine through you. You are truly amazing and one of the best things that ever happened to us. Love you, Buddy!
